Greetings,
I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend, a weekend that typically signals the end of Summer and the beginning of Fall. In the coming months, be sure to visit Upstate New York to take full advantage of this areas beautiful Fall Foliage.
While our friends in Pennsylvania started back to school this past week, most New York school children start this week. Please use caution during your daily commute, as we all get used to sharing the road again with those big yellow buses.
This month's eNewsletter features: our ACE Spotlight - FANUC M-410iB palletizing robot, Climbing the Corporate Ladder (a look at one of the most dangerous jobs) and the new and improved ACE Model LT10D Robotic Machine Tender. We look forward to serving your automation needs now and in the future. Have a particular interest? Want to see more of something? If you have any topics you would like to see covered in future eNewsletters, please feel free to email us. |
ACE Spotlight M-410iB Robot Series
The M-410iB series is FANUC Robotics' latest- generation palletizing robot with capacities from 160Kg all the way up to 700Kg and a horizontal reach of 3143mm (3130mm on M-410iB/450). The M-410iB is ideal for case palletizing, bag palletizing, layer handling, press tending, machine load/unload or part transfer.
The M-410iB can achieve up to 20 cycles per minute case palletizing or up to 27 cycles per minute bag palletizing (based on a 100Kg payload). This series includes large wrist inertias to meet a variety of heavy handling challenges as well as a large work envelope to service multiple production lines. FANUC servo drives provide proven reliability and the highest in uptime and productivity.
The M-410iB series also supports industry leading PalletTool/PalletPRO software packages (palletizing setup, simulation and operation software) as well as FANUC iRVision (machine vision) software for error proofing and robot guidance applications.

Climbing the Corporate Ladder
I recently stumbled upon a YouTube video that really puts some perspective on the jobs we all do. This job in particular, is one that I am sure only a select few people would choose to do. The job I am referring to, is that of a Tower Climber. We all take for granted the wonderful electronic gadgets we use in daily life such as our cell phones, iPads, laptops and car radios, but probably don't think about what it takes support their operation. We have both cell and radio towers located throughout this country that make this all possible, but somebody has to maintain them. Sometimes this involves a task as simple as replacing a light-bulb. This video is about 8 minutes long, but I think you find yourself absolutely riveted to it. Enjoy!

ACE Model LT10D Robotic Machine Tender
The ACE Model LT10D Robotic Machine Tender provides an automated method for loading and unloading parts into and out of a lathe or any machine tool. A unique drawer system is utilized for parts storage, whereby customer supplied fixtures are placed in the drawers providing consistent part locations for robotic unload. This system incorporates the latest robotic technology, allowing the operator to load the system and walk away while parts are being processed automatically.
The latest-generation LT10D Machine Tender features a new and improved drawer system including:
- Dual heavy-duty ball bearing telescoping slides.
- More drawer room - 43" X 23" X 5" Deep for larger parts (previous unit 40" x 20" x 3").
- Heavy-duty mechanical interlock to lock the drawer in all positions - operator side, closed (middle position) or at the robot load/unload position.
- More repeatable at all locations, due to precision tolerancing and new mechanical interlock.
The Model LT10D utilizes a FANUC Robotics's M-10iA or M-20iA (LT20D) 6-axis robot for proven-reliable part handling. Available end of tooling includes: 2-Jaw parallel, 3-Jaw parallel or vacuum. Other tooling is also available to suit the specific application. This unit has a unitized base frame with integral fork pockets allowing for easy relocation within your facility. Based on the cycle time allowed, other functions may be added to the LT10D such as: gauging, vision inspection or part deburring to maximize your investment in the automation.
