A Window that acts like a SmartTV
Samsung Electronics has come up with a novel concept for a smart window display. This 46 inch transparent LCD display is envisioned to be used for jewelry display cases, freezer case doors in the grocery store, store-front window displays or even the platform doors of subway stations.
This new display was recently demonstrated at the January Consumer Electronics Show located at the Las Vegas convention center. The window display was so well liked, it came away with a CES 2012 Innovation Award. It features a 4500:1 contrast ratio, high-definition resolution and a 70 percent color range displaying information much like a modern high-def TV. The unit weighs about 10 pounds and is 9mm thick. Other applications envisioned for the display are electronic signs, medical equipment and information windows.
The video link shown below offers an in-depth look at just how fantastic this new window display really is.
